Clinical inquiry fellowship - a practical example and thoughts on getting started
LE Power and Falls: Using a DAG and Adjustment Sets to Uncover Bias
This is a post for clinical inquiry fellows, it is not a light read. The core example of this post is from about 10 years ago. I initially wrote it as a very practical example of seeing beyond the very closed in strictures of research publications to promote the use of causal reasoning and DAGs. I've polished it off today with the idea that clinical inquiry fellows (CIFs) will start thinking about possible first steps for their journey as a CIF.
There’s the CIF reading list, sure thing and there are CIFs already reading. But to avoid drowning in an ocean of esoteric readings that I’ve suggested, it’s useful to think about how to direct a CIFs reading and learning to be useful (you’ve all seen the post on contributions vs. credentials), without limiting the possibilities.
